Richmond's Department of Public Utilities reported that the city achieved 100% compliance with federal and state safety standards for drinking water last year.

The "Consumer Confidence Report" details the result of 55,000 tests on more than 14,000 water samples taken throughout the year.

The plant treated an average of 64.2 million gallons per day to distribute across the region.

The report is notable in light of the city's water crisis in Jan. 2024, which led to millions of dollars in repairs at the plant.

A year after water crisis, Richmond officials express confidence in revamped treatment plant
“We’re a night and day difference from where we were last January.”

The city said it maintains 1,200 miles of water lines across the area.
