City Council weighs whether more speed cameras are worth the cost
Richmond's 26 school zone cameras have already racked up $1.9 million in fines, money that will go to the city.
The law was recently amended to allow the cameras at "high-risk intersection segments" as well — 31 of Richmond's fit the criteria.
City Council will discuss the possibility on June 23, balancing traffic safety with the potential cost. Read more here.

Lombardy Street bridge near VUU could be closed for two-year replacement in 2027
Richmond's oldest active bridge at 122 years old, it connects Virginia Union with the Broad Street corridor. It's also "structurally deficient" and needs replacing.
- Plans call for the bridge to be completely closed during the work.
- During that time, Arthur Ashe Boulevard will also be partially closed, creating potential headaches for Northsiders.

'Un/Bound' exhibit at VMHC asks visitors what it means to be free
The Virginia Museum of History & Culture unveils its latest exhibit tomorrow, tracing Black Virginians’ history from the commonwealth’s colonial roots to modern day. It will stay open through July 4, 2027. Read about it here.

Avula administration pushes back hard against plan to toughen residency rules for high-ranking City Hall officials
Six of the nine City Council members signaled support for a new rule requiring 43 of the city's top officials to live inside city limits.
- Right now, only 12 are required to.
- Exceptions would still be available.
Mayor Danny Avula's administration sent a memo calling the legislation “inappropriate and counterproductive” as it attempts to recruit the best talent to City Hall. A vote is expected on Monday. Read more here.

Henrico's water judged best in America by experts
The American Water Works Association awarded Henrico top honors at its annual conference this week in Denver, a gathering of more than 11,000 water professionals.
Professional water taste testers judged regional winners from around the nation, and Henrico's water treatment plant came out No. 1. Read more here.
