Hardywood unveils an IPA beer with less than 100 calories
As the summer arrives, Hardywood is releasing a new beer and committing a portion of the sales to the James River Foundation's efforts.
"River On!" is a low-calorie IPA, a segment growing in popularity. In brewery terminology, it is a "session" beer, referring to a beer that can be consumed in multiples without a heavy feeling.
The new beer is a companion to a previous IPA that benefited the James River Foundation, The Great Return.
River On! has 96 calories, four carbs and is 3.9% alcohol by volume.
Other breweries are also working on lighter fare, including Triple Crossing, which dubbed a lighter version of its popular Falcon Smash beer the "Baby Falcon."
Hardywood held a launch event for the beer along the river, noting that it is the 50th anniversary of the James River Association 50th anniversary.
