Folk Fest is back for its 22nd year. Here's what you need to know.
A Richmond tradition, the three-day Folk Festival will return this weekend to the riverfront, drawing an estimated 200,000 people over its three days.
The festival is free to attend but a donation of $10 per person, per day is requested. For the second year, the festival's footprint will include the Allianz Amphitheater, though the venue's clear bag policy continues to apply throughout the weekend.
Brown's Island also returns to the mix. Its refurbishment isn't completely finished, but Richmonders can get a sneak peek at what it will look like before it closes again after the festival for the finishing touches.

The festival will run from 6:30 to 10 p.m. on Friday night before a noon start time on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday night's performances will end at 6 p.m. A full schedule is available here.
In the spotlight
The headlining event on Saturday will take place at 5 p.m. at the amphitheater, and will be a tribute to the late R&B singer D'Angelo.
About 45 members of his family are scheduled to be on state for the presentation and performances, which will include a number of musicians who knew him personally.
Road closures
The Richmond Police will oversee a number of road closures in and around the downtown area.

Festival swag
Hardywood is making this year's official festival beer, which will pay tribute to German Oktoberfest feers.
The official poster was created by Richmond artist Christian Taylor.
Rain or shine
The festival will go on rain or shine, and Sunday is forecast to be a rainy day as the remnants of Hurricane Isaias move through.
