Richmond Forum announces 2026-27 lineup, with mystery opening guest: a 'trailblazing female artist'
The Richmond Forum announced its 2026-27 lineup on Saturday night, marking the 41st season of the popular speaker series.
In a break with tradition, the Forum did not announce its first guest, who will open the season on Nov. 21, 2026, referring to her only as a "trailblazing artist."
"Her career has taken her to the pinnacle of her field and beyond, and she has plenty of stories to tell," according to a press release. "A full announcement is coming soon."
The next four speakers will be:
- Dr. Laurie Santos teaches the most popular course in Yale University's history, and has spent her life studying happiness. Her presentation on Jan. 16 will be titled "Why we're so bad at being happy."
- Sal Khan founded digital learning platform Khan Academy, and will present on Feb. 13, making the case that artificial intelligence, if used well, can personalize learning and unlock human potential.
- Baroness Dambisa Moyo, member of the UK's House of Lords, will speak on March 20 about "Tectonic shifts in global trade."
- Justin Trudeau, former Prime Minister of Canada, will finish the season on April 17 with "a candid reflection of what leadership in trying times entails."
"Ideas are more powerful when we encounter them together," wrote Heather Crislip, Executive Director of The Richmond Forum. "We've built a season around the questions we're all asking: Are we on the brink of a global recession? How will AI change the way our children learn? What does it take to be truly happy? We hope you'll be part of the conversation."
