VCU issues 1,760 traffic summonses during Safer Streets initiative

According to VCU officials, the school's police officers made 1,943 traffic stops and issued 1,760 traffic summonses during the school's Operation Safer Streets initiative.

The statistics, which cover a timeframe of slightly less than three months, are a large increase over past enforcement efforts.

During the entire 2024-25 academic year, the school issued 1,774 summonses, only 14 more than during the targeted enforcement time.

The school plans to elaborate on those numbers, and how it will continue pedestrian safety efforts, at a Tuesday morning press conference.
