The Richmonder will offer public notices soon, pending court approval

The Richmonder announced its intentions to publish legal notices, pending court approval in the jurisdictions we cover.

Public, or legal, notices are legally required notices to the public that an action impacting them is being discussed or might occur. Common examples are zoning changes, City Council or Board of Supervisors meetings, or liquor license applications.

Virginia law allows online news sites to run legal notices provided they meet several criteria about informing the public regularly. The Richmonder has met those critera, and is petitioning courts in Richmond City, Henrico County, Chesterfield County and Hanover County for permission to run the notices.

The Virginia Press Association has compiled a website with more information about public notices.

This page will be updated when approval is granted and our service goes live. If you have any questions, please contact Michael Phillips at mphillips@richmonder.org.
