Henrico, Chesterfield ask residents to ignore Richmond payment address postcard

Postcards sent by the City of Richmond to its residents notifying them of new payment mailing addresses were also sent to some Henrico and Chesterfield residents.
Both counties put out statements Friday asking their residents to disregard the postcard and continue to pay their taxes and utility bills to the county as they have traditionally done.
In Henrico, customers that receive natural gas from Richmond Gas Works will use the new address for that payment.
Ross Catrow, Director of Richmond's Office of Strategic Communications, said some postcards reached county residents as part of the effort to ensure all Richmond residents were informed.
"Our intent with the postcards was to reach each and every Richmond resident and let them know about these important changes coming to their bill payment addresses," he wrote in a statement. "At the time, I thought a small spillover into areas of Chesterfield and Henrico was worth making sure we had 100% coverage in the City. I should definitely have been more thoughtful with the design and with the language on the postcard."
Richmond residents who pay their bills by mail should use the new addresses going forward.
