Five individuals were shot outside Virginia State University dormitories at 1:28 a.m. Saturday, with four people sustaining non-life-threatening injuries and one in critical condition.

“No one has been apprehended, we are still investigating the incident,” a Chesterfield County Police Department spokesperson wrote to The Richmonder.

The on-campus lockdown was lifted around 8:20 a.m., as announced on Facebook, though a heavy police presence remains while investigations continue.

This is the school’s move-in weekend, with classes set to begin on Monday. On Friday, the school had a pinning ceremony with former NFL star Cam Newton as a guest speaker.
