Slushy snow will fall Sunday in Richmond, but shouldn't make a huge mess
National Weather Service forecasters are calling for snow on Sunday night in Richmond, but unlike the last round, this one is unlikely to shut down the city.
Temperatures will stay above freezing tonight, meaning much of the snowfall will melt as it hits the roads.
The NWS says that rain will change into snow in the Richmond area around 5 p.m. tonight, and is predicting 1.7 inches of snowfall overall.

Uncertainty remains high, as the storm is coming from the east, where it is building in the Atlantic Ocean.
Coastal areas in the Northeast should expect blizzard conditions as heavy winds and snows will make travel difficult, but at the moment, it is unlikely that level of storm reaches Richmond.
Richmond Public Schools said it is monitoring the situation, and will make a call by 6 a.m. on Monday morning.
The city has activated its extreme weather warming centers.
During the daytime, the Main Branch of the library is available at 101 E. Franklin St., and the overnight location is the Linwood Robinson Center at 700 N. 26th Street.
