Richmonder reporter named state’s best education writer!
The Virginia Press Association awards honor the best in statewide journalism each year, and this was the first year The Richmonder was eligible to compete.
We made the most of our inaugural appearance last night, bringing home 20 awards for the work we did last year!
Most excitingly, education reporter Victoria A. Ifatusin was named the state’s best across all divisions of publication!
It was a big night for other Richmonder writers as well.
- Graham Moomaw and Sarah Vogelsong were honored for their work covering the FOIA whistleblower trial.
- Our development crew of Beth Weisbrod and Anne-Marie Worthy won an “Innovation” award for our 25 in ‘25 series of community heroes.
- Freelancer Rich Griset was named the top feature writer at an online publication for his work chronicling Richmond.
And The Richmonder was named the “Best Digital Newsletter” in the state!
We’re thrilled the judging panel saw what we’ve known since launch, that The Richmonder is succeeding because we have the most talented crew in town, working every day to tell the stories that matter most to you.
If you want to support this work going forward, there’s never been a better time. Start a “Champion” membership today for $29.99 a month and we’ll give you a Richmonder hat or mug. You’ll also expand our mission of representing you when important decisions are made across the region.
I’m continually humbled by the optimism and spirit of the Richmond community. These awards are proof that together, we are making a difference. Thanks for putting your trust in us.
