It's birthday week at The Richmonder!

We try not to bother you too much. We know it's annoying.

That's why our website doesn't have intrusive pop-up ads, or videos that play as soon as you click on a story.

It's why we founded The Richmonder as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, which ensures we'll never prioritize clicks over mission, and we'll never endorse political candidates or causes.

But for this week only, we're going to spend a little extra time in your inbox.

🎂
We celebrate our first birthday on Tuesday, and we've made quite an impact in that time, whether it's telling you when the water will come back on, or keeping an eye on the city budget for you.

But we also know there are many more stories to tell. In the coming years we want to expand our coverage of regional issues, enhance our event offerings, and reach more people — particularly those who aren't engaging with local news right now.

Our funding comes primarily from Richmonders like you. If you've enjoyed receiving The Richmonder, please support us in Year 2.

Our goal this week is to add 50 new members who understand the importance of making sure Richmond has access to high-quality news.

Here's to another year of connection and community,

Michael Phillips

P.S. — Last month, more than 100,000 people read at least one article on The Richmonder's website. If you're not ready to become a member, would you consider a one-time donation to further our mission?
