The Richmond Flying Squirrels announced ticket prices for their new baseball stadium, CarMax Park, which will open on April 7.

They also announced that the opportunity to purchase tickets to the opening game will be handled by lottery. Fans can sign up for the lottery on the team's website. Season ticket holders and partial season ticket holders are guaranteed seats.

Tickets for the other home games this year will go on sale March 7 at a block party in front of the new stadium. Prices range from $34 directly behind home plate to $10 standing-room-only seats.

The Squirrels touted ticket prices that are largely comparable to The Diamond, though there is no longer a discount for purchasing in advance.

"It has been a priority of ours to keep Flying Squirrels games an affordable entertainment option for families in Richmond and throughout Central Virginia," Squirrels General Manager Anthony Oppermann said. "The majority of tickets available for fans to purchase on an individual-game basis are priced at or below day-of-game pricing at The Diamond."

At The Diamond, field level tickets (lower level) sold for $20.50 last year, while general admission was $13 per game.

The new stadium will have a larger variety of seating options.

For $60 per game, fans can purchase two tickets with seats on Adirondack chairs down the right-field line.

There are also "drink rail" tickets for $16, which are designated spaces to stand, mostly in the infield, with a place to hold drinks and food.

Unlike The Diamond, the new stadium will have seats in the outfield, allowing fans to walk the entirety of the distance around the playing field while at the stadium.
