Dominion Energy unveiled its newest product on Thursday, a portable generator that runs off solar power instead of diesel gas.

The generator stores solar power in an internal battery. The company says it can power a medium-sized food truck for nine hours, or can be used for festivals and other mobile power needs.

“This is the next generation of mobile power sources,” Ed Baine, President of Dominion Energy Virginia, said in a press release. “These units generate energy, don’t have any emissions, and don’t require fuel. Plus, they don’t make noise like diesel generators. They’re ideal for small businesses, utilities or government agencies that need portable power – and want clean energy, too.”

The generator, known as the Green Grid 90kWh MBESS, can be towed by a mid-sized SUV, according to Dominion.

It was invented by Dominion, but will be manufactured and sold by Power UP Connect, a Maryland-based company, and is available for commercial purchase.

The company says it meets fire prevention and safety standards, meaning it can be insured.
