Chesterfield to break ground on new high school, scheduled to open in 2027
Chesterfield County will break ground on the site of a new high school Wednesday morning, the county's first in 20 years.
The school, which during the planning process has been referred to as "Western Area High School," will largely draw from the area currently served by Cosby High, and will serve 2,400 students.

A presentation made to the Chesterfield School Board shows plans that include athletic fields, an auditorium and a podcast room.
The county has about 64,000 students enrolled among all ages.
