# Permits and Inspections counter closed indefinitely due to leak

On Friday, the city announced it was closing its Permits and Inspections Counter, a place on the first floor of City Hall where citizens could go to handle permit and inspection issues in person, "until further notice." 

Chief Administrative Officer Lincoln Saunders said "there was a water leak in the ceiling that caused us to close the space until we can get it remediated." 

Richmond Planning Director Kevin Vonck said the city will hopefully be able to pinpoint the source of the leak by the end of the week. 

"It's an old building," he said. 

In the meantime, citizens can submit permits through Richmond's [online portal](https://energov.richmondgov.com/EnerGov%5FProd/selfservice#/home) or schedule in-person assistance by calling 804-646-4169 or emailing [pdrpermitsandinspections@rva.gov](mailto:pdrpermitsandinspections@rva.gov).
