Lester, who works as a nurse at VCU, said she researches the outdoor spaces before the walks and will often pose related questions. The audiobook club walks aren’t rigid. There’s no set pace. Breaks are encouraged because they lead to discussions. That’s the gap the county hopes to close with its first publicly operated domestic violence shelter, a roughly 16-bed facility expected to open in early 2028. The shelter will be completely county-run with volunteer help. To the organizers' knowledge, this is the first publicly run shelter in the region. Here's what you need to know. A Richmond tradition, the three-day Folk Festival will return this weekend to the riverfront, drawing an estimated 200,000 people over its three days. 🪕 Brown's Island also returns to the mix. Its refurbishment isn't completely finished, but Richmonders can get a sneak peek. The festival is free to attend but a donation of $10 per person, per day is requested. For the second year, the festival's footprint will include the Allianz Amphitheater, though the venue's clear bag policy continues to apply throughout the weekend.
