The Richmonder has been approved to publish legally required public notices in Richmond City, Henrico County and Hanover County! We anticipate receiving approval in Chesterfield County by October 1.

**What are public notices:** Public, or legal, notices are legally required notices to the public that an action impacting them is being discussed or might occur. **How much does The Richmonder charge:** We charge $150 per posting, regardless of your notice's length. For an additional $50, we will spotlight your listing in our email newsletter.

### Frequently asked questions

**Is online-only legal for public notices?**

Yes, Virginia Code § 8.01-324 allows for online-only distribution of legal notices when the [entity meets certain statutory guidelines](https://www.vpa.net/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/2025-Public-Notice-Guid.pdf#:~:text=publication%20in%20lieu%20of%20publication%20in%20a,the%20notice%20is%20required%20to%20be%20published%3B).

**Can I get an affidavit?**

Yes. We have a notary on our staff and one will be emailed (and mailed upon request).

**Will you be adding more localities?**

Yes. We are continuing to petition counties in the broader region. We will announce when we’ve been approved for any additional localities.

**How long does it take for a public notice to appear?**

We require three business days to process legal notice submissions.

**How do you handle payment?**

You can pay online or by check. Terms are Net 30.

**Our firm requires documentation on file in order to designate The Richmonder publisher of record. Do you have that?**

Yes, we can email the court’s approval, our third-party circulation audit and any other documentation you require.
