# 3.0-magnitude earthquake was centered 55 miles west of Richmond

The USGS reported a 3.0-magnitude earthquake on Tuesday at 1:08 p.m.

The earthquake was centered near Dillwyn, Virginia.

The earthquake was significantly less intense than a 2011 earthquake in Mineral, Virginia that registered a 5.8 magnitude.

This is the second earthquake of the month locally. There was a 1.6-magnitude earthquake in Short Pump last Wednesday morning.
